Our web-based managed system is one of the most sophisticated and easy to use on the market, designed to ensure that users are able to easily go about managing their applications without needing to refer to a complicated technical manual at regular intervals.
A brief overview
Each Appli account is provided with its own domain where users can login using their username & password. When you first login, you'll be presented with a welcome screen which introduces you to the application. All core navigation can be found in the top navigation bar and sub-navigation appears as tabs whenever it is required.
This screencast gives a very quick overview of the pages available within the management system including account management options, user invitations, creating applications and viewing networks.
Creating & provisioning new servers
Appli allows you to quickly create new servers whenever you need them - you just need to enter a few details, including the operating system you require and which IP address to assign, and hit Create. The machine will usually be online within a few minutes. Once it is online you will be able to run any provisioning tasks and scripts as required.
This short screencast shows the entire process, from creating a new machine, connecting to it using SSSH and installing some essential system tools to then turning it off and deleting it from the system.
Networking & Firewalls
Appli provides advanced networking & firewalling options allowing you to keep your environment as secure as possible. You can set up as many networks as you need and control access between them using the firewalling system we provide. Each of your networks is assigned IP addresses in blocks - by default all new accounts are created with a /29 (5 usable IPs) although if you need a larger range just let us know the justification and we can replace this with a larger subnet.
This screencast shows creating new networks, requesting an IPv4 subnet as well as an IPv6 one. We also use the firewall rules option to create a rule to allow all traffic from a single IP address and allow web traffic from anywhere to one of your network's IPs.
Provisioning Tools
We provide a great selection of tools to assist with the provisioning and management of servers within your Appli account. You can configure your own scripts or you can use any of the pre-defined tasks which we provide. These tasks can be run on any server (see the creating servers screencast above).
This screencast shows how to create a new provisioning recipe to install Apache & PHP5. As you can see, you'd create a new recipe and then add each of the commands you wish to execute.
This screencast shows how to install a new server using an installation template. You will see that once the machine has been created, the tasks automatically begin to run and execute in order.
